Credit Reports

Know what you are looking for and getting.
At The-Identity-Protection-site.com we promote credit reporting and Identity protection services that help you manage the process for requesting credit reports, setting up monitoring, and provide additional resources in the fight to prevent identity thieves from accessing your credit, stealing your good name and putting you in financial and emotions turmoil. These services allow you to do more than just request reports; they help schedule the requests, request freezes, ensure that the appropriate steps are take by Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. Further, many of the credit monitoring services employ additional monitoring methods to help identify fraud and theft before evidence of these appear on annually requested credit reports.

As you can see, many of these services promote "Free Credit Reports." These reports are provided free to you, from the three credit reporting bureaus. You can request them from AnnualCreditReport.com directly at NO COST TO YOU. However, this will require that you do all the follow up, ensure that any monitoring you request is done and remember to do it again. Monitoring requests need to be re-submitted every 90 days, while report requests can be made annually. Again, by law, you are entitled to your credit report every 12 months based on the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACT Act).

AnnualCreditReport.com is the only place the three bureaus coordinate the requests. Any other place (like those promoted on our site), are acting on your behalf. If all you are looking for is a free credit report, start with the AnnualCreditReport.com site. If you want someone else to manage the request for you, provide id protection services, credit monitoring, etc, then you should consider third party services.

The three Credit Reporting Bureaus are: Equifax, Experian and Transunion. These companies work with their clients (other companies) to provide a centralized location for the reporting of financial transactions, including loans, financial accounts, lines of credit and payment history for consumers. By bringing this information together from thousands of organizations, the credit reporting bureaus provide an easy way for lenders such as banks, stores, or other institutions to assess how likely you are to be able to pay back the money you borrow. The more risk that is indicated on your reports, the higher the interest you will be charged.
